SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol that's used to connect to a server and carry out different tasks via a command line. The protocol is employed by many skilled users, since the information transmitted over it is encrypted, so it cannot be intercepted on the way by a 3rd party. SSH access may be employed for a number of things depending on the type of website hosting account. With a shared hosting account, for example, SSH is one of several ways to import/export a database or to upload a file if the hosting server allows it. When you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH could be used for just about anything - you could install software or restart specific services like the web server or the database server that run on the machine. SSH is employed primarily with UNIX-like Systems, but there are clients which allow you to employ the protocol if your PC is working with a different Operating System as well. The connection is established on TCP port 22 by default and the remote server always listens for incoming connections on that port though a lot of providers change it for security reasons.
SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
If the cloud hosting package that you’ve selected during the signup procedure features SSH access by default, you will be able to activate this feature with a click in your Hepsia Control Panel. If you have chosen a different package, the SSH access feature may be included using the Upgrades menu and it will become available right away. All the information that you need to connect shall be conveniently listed in the SSH section of the CP - the hostname, the username and the port number. You can even set what password to use from the same spot and you shall be able to modify it at any time. All commands that are permitted are listed within the Help articles that we've prepared for you, together with examples of the syntax that you need to use. An additional advantage of allowing SSH access to your account is that you will be able to upload files through an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
The VPS server solutions we offer come with SSH access as standard, not as an optional upgrade or a function which you have to activate. The moment your new server is ready, you will be able to connect and begin working on your content via the login details that you have entered during the order procedure. A copy of the SSH credentials shall be sent to you via e mail as well. Because your VPS shall be isolated from the others on the physical web server, there aren't any limitations as to what you can or cannot do using SSH. You'll be able to download, install and manage any piece of software that'll run on a Linux hosting server, reboot the whole server or just a particular software component, and work with files, folders and databases with no restrictions. All you will need for this is a console or an SSH client on your end.
